2019 Spring Newsletter

                                                       Safety Notices

Golf Carts, Go Carts, Dirt Bikes and ATVs: we’ve all seen golf carts putting around and, most of the time, they
are operated safely. However, this hasn’t always been the case. Kids driving a vehicle not authorized for use on
public roads, puts the owners of the vehicle at risk legally and financially. PLEASE, if you own a cart or ATV,
help us avoid terrible accidents and tell your kids to play it safe! Teach them the rules of the road; stop signs mean
STOP, look before you pull out onto a road, stay in your lane, and do not dart across lanes.

Driving thru Stop Signs and Speeding: We have had several reports of speeding vehicles and resulting “close
calls”. This time of year there are lots of kids and dogs and walkers in the streets in your neighborhood. PLEASE
slow down and STOP at STOP Signs as you enter and drive through the Shores!

                                                               HATE LITTER???
                                                               Be part of the solution!
Get your cardio in, we are scheduling a day to walk and clean up Jones Wharf Road.
Contact Pam LeFave (301) 904-5022 or pamlefa@gmail.com to volunteer.
                                                                 We need your help!

If cars are parked in the street children should be very careful riding bikes around them. Our streets have no
shoulder for parking and were not designed for parking that blocks a lane and good visibility.

Children should be closely monitored at the waterfront as the currents are very fast and water is deep adjacent to
        the sea wall.

Please be considerate of your neighbors, the St Mary's County Residential Maximum Noise Level from 10:00 pm
to 7:00 am is 55 dB.

Below are pictures of the creek inlet three hours after HIGH tide. This inlet is used by the boaters in our Community to
access the Patuxent River. Unfortunately, it is slowly being filled with sediment, which makes it difficult to use. In fact, the
Solomons Island Fire Department had difficulty getting their boat out after rescuing a young canoeists who got a bit too
far from shore. Sediment built up to the point of displacing water can be seen in the circled areas in the pictures below. Are
you a boater living in the Shores? Come to the Spring Meeting for up-to-date information about this.
