Budget Committee Report – The purpose of this committee is to prepare a new budget for the following year, in time
for presentation at the spring meeting.
Beach/Erosion/Waterways Committee Report – The waterfront function of Hollywood Shores has had an
active committee this year. We have now eliminated debris piles and established grass over most of the area. Many
other miscellaneous tasks were completed including: new and improved channel markers, application of preservative
to the piers, painted picnic tables, added an additional picnic table, add an information sign, add new landscaping and
a flower bed, and much more. The grass been kept cut for good appearance. All of the work has kept the waterfront
looking its best in many years. Thanks to all of the volunteers who have made this happen (Phil Stevens, Lanhams,
Quades, Donna Diana and more). On top of the physical work the waterfront committee is making an aggressive
effort to address the now critical problem of sedimentation in the creek entrance channel. One meeting has been
held at the County engineer's office, and two DNR visits here have been made; the last one to re-survey the channel
depth. Thanks to Jim Haley for investigating dredging and Eileen Lanham for researching grant and funding
options. This is all in work now. Anyone with an interest in the waterfront should consider joining the
committee. Please contact Rollie Campbell (240-298-8966) or scan the QR code on the sign at the waterfront. More
information and codes can be expected in the future. And PLEASE all contribute to keeping the waterfront clean and
tidy and help to stop any irresponsible activity.
Landscape Committee – We have made some effort to add shrubs and plants to the pool and beach areas, but this
work needs more participation. Possibly, in addition to joint work activity, different people could take on a small
selected area to improve and maintain.
Maintenance Committee – We continue to address repairs needed on the many aging systems and structures
associated with our pool and waterfront.
Playground Committee Report – We hope to install a basketball court near pool but simply can’t afford it now.
Pool Operating Committee –This committee is responsible for monitoring operations (lifeguards, cleanliness, etc.)
as well as editing/updating pool rules and lifeguard documents as required.
Website Committee – Our site hosts pool party reservation form, pool regulations, By-Laws, lifeguard application
form, board member info, and a “contact us” link to email questions and concerns. For questions or concerns please
contact John Wilson (301) 373.3560 – jsfcw@yahoo.com
Security Committee – This committee is active in improving community safety and security.
Facebook: Our community Facebook page is a great place to share info with neighbors. We can set up groups to
focus on services, activities or committees. We currently have a Waterfront Committee group and more can be added.
