Mark pointed out that they had donated their salaries for this for 10 years and that, if the board chose to
redirect that funding for another purpose, they would need to approve or would demand the salary for
those years be paid to them. A discussion ensued regarding difficulties in obtaining a permit for such
construction. Chip Cousineau proposed we install basketball court on existing impervious surface (such as
parking lot at waterfront) to improve chances of permit approval
ADA requirement: We may be required to make our pool handicap accessible. County states pools
located at this facility are required to meet the 2010 ADA Standards but compliance is “not readily
achievable”. Lorie has action to monitor requirements.
Pool Pump/Motor replacement: Our pump motor and pump were quite old. We installed a refurbished
pump & motor last year, and they are working OK. We were concerned as failure of either would shut
down pool. We found a spare which has been refurbished and is ready if needed.
Deep Well replacement: in 2017 we replaced the well pump motor and realized that our aging well casing
is badly corroded and could fail. We have budgeted $8000 for new well if/when required.
Memberships: 2012: 82, 2013: 87, 2014: 88, 2015: 85, 2016: 83, 2017: 93, 2018: 87, 2019: 88
• New Business:
1. Pool Opening Date: We are staying in contact with Health Dept for guidance. While nothing is
official, they suggest that pools may be allowed to open in June. Lori stated it is time to get to
th
work on opening the pool. Pool inspection is scheduled for June 12 .
2. Membership Options: The board is proposing a new/alternate membership plan. While this
decision was driven by COVID-19 impacts on pool opening, if adopted, this will be permanent.
The proposal is to offer the option of only paying for membership which allows either Pool use
or boat ramp/gate use, or the traditional combined membership. Costs:
• Pool use only: $200 per family for residents, $225 for Associates
• Boat Ramp/Gate Access: $200 per family for residents, $225 for Associates
• Combined Membership: Same as before, $330 per family for residents, $375 for
Associates
Lori briefed group on this proposed plan to be implemented this year. Much discussion ensued. The
general opinion is most are not in favor of the idea of splitting ramp and pool fees. It’s been brought up
before and never widely supported. We agree that perhaps a survey of community opinion is needed prior
to any further action. All agree.
• Open Discussion
1) John Irons voiced concern that the large iron drain lines from the pool are old, corroded and will one
day fail. We all recognized this could be a huge undertaking/cost to repair. John proposed we create
budget line item to plan for this. Jean Campbell made a motion to create/budget a fund for this. All
were in favor. We then discussed how we could estimate cost for this. Lori proposed a committee be
established to research options and costs. Proposed committee members are John Irons, Chip
Cousineau, and Rollie Campbell.
2) Pam Lefave briefed the group on her Jones Wharf road clean up effort and asked for volunteers to
coordinate with her.
• Adjourn: Motion by Mark Hunt, Second by John Wilson at 1200 Hrs.
